Why join a music group?
Joining this group will encourage
the development of your child's speaking,
listening, co-ordination, concentration,
confidence and social skills in an enjoyable
and relaxed half hour.
From what age can my child join?
The baby group caters for babies aged
6 months to 2 years although some parents choose to start
their babies even younger! The toddler group is from 2 to
3 years and advanced toddler 3 to 4 years.
How is the programme of music devised?
Each session is planned carefully to give a balanced programme of
music. During the time spent at our music sessions, your child
will already begin to fulfil about 35% of the requirements for
the schools National Curriculum for Music - Key Stage 1
(up to age 7), learning
- dynamics (loud and soft)
- tempo (fast and slow)
- rhythm
- a wide repertoire of songs
(up to the age of four your child will have
experienced about 150 songs and rhymes)
What can I expect from a typical session?
Each class consists of half-an-hour of music and song followed
by half-an-hour of play. Your child's class will include the
following activities:
- nursery rhymes
- action songs
- puppets
- visual aids
- percussion instruments
- movement
- soft toys
- refreshements
- play time
